When people receive a text about the people who professed Christ as Lord and Savior its more than just a prayer, there's a story behind it. Its typical when I head out with a group or when I go solo, a conversation could last any where from 10 minutes up to an hour. I have decided to tell a little behind the prayer so you can be encouraged to "Go!" or maybe the story is relatable to you or just for you to see/understand the HAND of OUR AWESOME and AMAZING GOD!
Just yesterday I sent out a text for people to meet up with me at Garden Grove High; Nicole Cortes showed up. We ended up talking to 4-6 youth. At first, it was a bummer because these kids we laughing at me, and rejected even the tracts. Then crossing the street on her way to school was Rosa, a sophomore. She was wearing a red and white striped shirt that reminded me of the story about the candy cane. (If you dont know about it, Ill explain after I tell the story) Anyway, she told me her background was Catholicism, but she didnt know how to get to heaven. She was really blown away that she didnt know. After spending 15-20 minutes with her she understood the need for Christ in her life and wanted to pray to receive Jesus as LORD and SAVIOR. After she prayed with us, she said, "I thought I was going to have a typical day at school and go home, but today I received Christ as my LORD and SAVIOR."
We mentioned the Christian Club and time and dates. We asked her if she knew certain people, but the names didnt ring a bell. Then suddenly Nicole recognized a girl named Karen from the Bible Club. Yes, how AMAZING is GOD? HE brings a girl from the Christian Club to walk by as we are talking about it. Is it a coincidence? I dont think so...
I was able to talk to another girl named Lizabet. She has a mom who is Catholic and a dad who is Christian, but she doesnt really attend church. After talking with her for about 10 minutes she mentioned that her dad often talks about needing Jesus, but she never responded to her father. We know according to scriptures that some water, some plant, but the LORD yields the increase. Well yesterday was the day!! She was totally pumped up and understood the message and opened her heart to receive Christ.
Thanks again for your prayers.
I hope you were blessed and encouraged to GO!
The story about the Candy cane.
From what I learned and what I share about the candy cane is the the shape represents the letter "J" for Jesus.
The red stripe represents the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross for us and the white represents our hearts after we receive Christ in our hearts as our Lord and Savior.
